Green Island Cement (GIC)’s OPC is manufactured using clinker which is mainly produced by the Company’s fully integrated manufacturing facility in our Tap Shek Kok plant (Hong Kong).
GIC’s OPC features high compressive strength, user friendly application and low alkali content. It is capable of providing additional protection to concrete from Alkali-Aggregate Reaction (AAR). It is used in all general concrete construction as well as mass and reinforced concrete and is extensively used in various projects in the government and private sectors.
Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) is a by-product of steelmaking. After finish-grinding, the glassy non-crystalline structure of calcium-aluminate silicates gives GGBS a similar strength performance with typical cement.
Substituting OPC and PFA by fine grinded GGBS in concrete, it improves the long-term strength, lowers the heat of hydration, improves chemical resistance from chemical attacks and greatly reduce the carbon footprint of concrete.
The general replacement of OPC/PFA by GGBS ranges from 35% to 75% subjected to various project requirement.
